Darkness is the diminishing of light and not the absent of light
because God is light and he cannot be absent. So whenever light is lacking or
diminishing in a place, there is darkness. In life today, people are faced with
so many difficulties in life because they have let darkness come into their
lives. This darkness comes in gradually and it appears very friendly. And
before the person will realize what is happening, the devil is already in. The
person begins to let the devil do what he likes because his eyes are covered
and they do not know what is happening.
They grope in dark without
light; and he makes them stagger like a drunken man. (Job 12:25)
Some people have been made to believe that night is meant for
sleeping only. If you belong to this category that you should have a re-think
on whether you should spend all your night sleeping or you should spend some
part of it doing something reasonable that would help you to excel.
The happenings of the night.
You will agree with me that majority of the robberies that takes
place in the world happen around midnight hours. The question is, why do they
take place at this time? It is because men are asleep at such a time. So they
find it easy, to take away whatever pleases them without much disturbances. The
devil and his agents, also put this into practice when they want to destroy
someone’s destiny or they want to steal something tangible.
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the
wheat, and went his way.

Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth
are full of the habitations of cruelty.
(Psalm74:20)
Its obvious that the night hour is the time of battle for the
devil and his agents. So, if you have the attitude of sleeping all through the
night you will have to change, and stop the devil and his agent from planning
their evil strategies. One way you can be able to stop a gang of robbers from
stealing is by intercepting them in their den.
Christ prayed in the early hours of the morning because he needed
to prepare himself for the days work. This is how God expects us to
behave. Early preparation, will keep us ahead of the devil. And their
plans will constantly fail.
This is a strategy that a Christian must use to destabilize the devil effectively before any harm occurs i.e. at the meeting places of the witches, demons and other satanic agents. If you decide to meet the devil after the attack has been done then you will have to go through more trouble to be able to reverse the effect and we all know that reversing the effect of what the devil has done might be a little difficult but with God all things are possible. For instance, sending demons out of someone who is possessed would be a little bit difficult than the demon entering that person.
Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received
little thereof. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep
sleep falleth on men …then a spirit passed before my face; the hair
of my flesh stood up.
(Job 4:12-15)

Why would anyone sleep when he or she knows how to stop the effect
of the devil's plan, whose plan is to destroy the lives of people or make it
miserable?
So after receiving the
morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night.
(John13:30)
Now, we can see that the night is a very significant period for
the devil and his agent and that was why Judas Iscariot went out before night
fall so that he could carry out his evil plans.

Do not think this night is just the hours when the sun does not
shine. These night times or periods are also times of challenges for an
individual.
The reason darkness has access to the lives of people.
Darkness can rule in the life of someone, only when light is
lacking. You might say “I am a Christian and it is not possible for darkness to
be found in my life.” It could be true that you are a Christian but what type
of Christian are you? Are you the type that just goes to church only on Sunday
and live a different type of life on weekdays? Or the type that does not have
time to read your bible? The devil knows those that are “playing church” - just
going to church because they want to be called Christians. If you belong to
such category of people you have to change because darkness would certainly
have a way of coming into your life.
Whenever darkness wants to take over someone’s life, it does
so in a very stealth manner that the person hardly knows that it has gained
entry. It takes only the intervention of the Holy Spirit for such a person to
realize it. Darkness can only rule over someone’s life when there is an open
door. And examples of these open doors are slumbering, sin, curse, etc.
Sleeping for sorrow.
And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he
found them sleeping for sorrow, and he said unto them, “why sleep ye? Rise and
pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
(Luke. 22:45-46)

Peter was an example of someone who slumbered or slept and let
darkness take over his life. Was he not very close to Jesus? Of course he was,
but what happened? He slept at the wrong time and that is what most of us are
doing, sleeping at the wrong time. Jesus woke Peter and his brethren when he
found them asleep and told them to pray but they could not because their spirit
was willing while their flesh was weak. Before then Christ had warned him that
he would deny him three times but he rejected it and said he would not.
Sometimes, even after we have rejected something we have to back it up with
prayer. If Peter had obeyed the word of Christ- when Christ told him to pray,
he would not have denied him three times.
And what happened to Peter is also happening to some of us.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit or the angel of the lord will come to wake us up but
we will be too tired to stand up and pray. Hence , giving the devil an
opportunity to afflict us. Most of us have been sleeping for sorrow,
which is the very reason people are not progressing. Christ knew that they were
sleeping for sorrow and that was why he asked them why they were sleeping for
sorrow. For anyone to sleep for sorrow means that that person has given the
devil a highway into his life or destiny. And believe me, the devil would not
take that chance for granted. He would make maximum use of that opportunity.
The devil is not like we humans who does not make use of opportunities. The
devil is a very good strategist. So don’t sleep for sorrow.
Curses a pathway for
darkness.
Whenever a curse is operating in the life of a person, that person
will likely find out that lots of negative things would always be happening to
him or her. It would be that the person will be having nightmares or things
will not be working out effectively. If you belong to this category of people,
then you need to pray and break every curse working in your life. It might be a
curse that might have been laid on you by your parents or a friend probably
because of the wrong you did them. But Jesus has the answer.
Sin a highway for
darkness.
Sin is also another thing that can let darkness take over your life. If you are fornicating, lying, stealing, taking bribe, etc have it in mind that you have a big door opened, for the devil to come through.
From the moment you let the light in your life diminish, have it in mind, that you have swept the place clean for the agent of the devil to come and inhabit because the flesh and the spirit cannot tarry. So sin and the Holy Spirit cannot stay in the same body.
I believe that you must have had a change Sin is also another thing that can let darkness take over your
life. If you are fornicating, lying, stealing, taking bribe, etc have it in
mind that you have a big door opened, for the devil to come through.
I believe you must have had a change of heart, if darkness
has been ruling in your life. Go to Jesus today, for he is the way.of heart, concerning whether to spend every hour of your night sleeping. Even Jesus spoke about the hour of the night when the chief priest and the officer of the temple had come against him.
From the moment you let the light in your life diminish, have it
in mind, that you have swept the place clean for the agent of the devil to come
and inhabit because the flesh and the spirit cannot tarry. So sin and the Holy
Spirit cannot stay in the same body.
I believe that you must have had a change of heart,
concerning whether to spend every hour of your night sleeping. Even Jesus spoke
about the hour of the night when the chief priest and the officer of the temple
had come against him.

hour, and the power of darkness.
